grafted asked: We purchased an old house that was built in 1910 and it has hardwood floors throughout. We want to eventually purchase new flooring for the house, but in the meantime will be using the old hardwood. Does anyone know if there is a way to make them look good without having to go about sanding and refinishing them. To be honest we just want them to look decent, a shine may not be possible beings they are so old and the finish is worn off. Thanks for any answers that come my way. I sure do appreciate it.

asked: I just bought a house and it has beautiful hardwood floors under the carpet. I just remodeled the bathroom before we moved in so I don’t have a lot of money at the time. So I can redo them myself but I am wanting to wait, but the wife doesn’t, To redo them as I am burned out from redoing the bathroom. webgal79 asked: I just purchased a 45-year-old home and the previous owners installed carpet over the hardwood floors. They ripped it up before selling it to us and the carpet pad left residue in high traffic areas. It looks like the floors have stains in some of those high-traffic areas as well. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way of cleaning this? We don’t have much time to do extensive work on the floors before moving in because we also have to paint all the interior walls. Any suggestions?

James L asked: The house I am renting (I moved in back in September) had hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining room and one room which serves as an office. I moved a refigerator over the weekend and it appears I scratched the hardwood floor. Upon closer examination, I discovered that it wasn’t the floor I had scratched, but removed what appeared to be layers of buildup (not sure if it was wax, oil, or dirt) that had accumulated over the years.
How can I get the rest of it off?

Nata asked: I have been using a product called fabuloso on my hardwood floors and its been turning out lovely. However my boyfriend figured he would do something nice for me and he took a mop to the floors with about 30 ounces of fabuloso and not enough water to dilute it… Resulting in nasty filmy sticky greasy grimy floors… I’ve been cleaning it with just hot water figuring that it would eventually get it all up but I’ve cleaned it about 10 times now and its a little better but not much… I was wondering if there is an easy way to get rid of the soapy scumy film?
