Im installing hardwood floor planks. A section of the floor is about a half of inch lower than the rest of the floor. What type of approach should I take to level flooring? If I use self leveling cement, will the staples or nails be able to penetrate this material into the subfloor?

leveling compound applied with as wide a flat trowel you can find is the only way I know without actually ripping up your plywood and fixing seal,if that is whats causing your dip in the floor…………..Ardex makes the best leveling compound I know so that’s a recommendation,kinda pricey though…….
as far as stapling into plywood just check the size of nails or staples and see how long they are….you can get different sizes to fit the stapler and if all else fails,but some extra long finishing nails and just nail through the tongue at that one section of floor

The unlevel spot or shim you can use 14 plywood and or layers of 15lb roofing felt to shim the subfloor this is what my buddy who owns flooring business told me when did my.
