Is Australian Cypress a durable hardwood flooring option?

Posted by admin
Mike G asked:

Any hardwood flooring experts out there?

We are considering 5 1/4″ unfinished Australian Cypress flooring but have heard some stories that it can tend to crack, creak and pop after installation.

We are planning to match moisture contents of flooring and subfloor before installation, glue and staple the boards in place, and the house will have a quality central HVAC system with humidity control.

Should we be concerning ourselves about this wood? Will this wood be likely to crack and pop when we walk on it down the road?

Thanks for any advice!
Mike

For many kitchens fitted out with cypress cupboards very striking there arent many kitchens fitted out with cypress flooring but not sure what affect climate would have it properly hope it.
